Lamberts Folic Acid 400µg
Size: 100 tablets
It is now widely accepted and established that lack of folate during the first trimester of pregnancy increases the risk of neural tube defects in the developing baby (presenting as Spina bifida). In both men and women low folate is associated with cardiovascular disease (by virtue of raised homocysteine levels in the blood).
Bioavailability studies now indicate that red cell folate status appears to significantly alter following folic acid supplementation (400µg/day) as compared to consumption of a folate-rich diet. This level of supplementation is as much as 3 times that found in the average UK diet.
1 tablet daily.
A large intake of Folic Acid may mask the signs and symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency (Prenicious Anaemia).
