Lamberts L-Phenylalanine 500mg
Size: 60 capsules
Amino acids are essential to health. Most form the small structual components of protein and are required for the synthesis of protein within the body. The primary function of most Amino acids is to furnish the essential material for duplication of the genetic code, the cell division, and for the formation of muscles and connective tissue.
Amino acids are classified as either Essential Amino Acids or Non Essential Amino Acids; the latter means that the Amino Acid can be manufactured within the liver from other Amino Acids and from materials within our food. The former means that these Amino Acids cannot be made in our bodies, but rather are made by plants and animals which we eat as food.
Phenylalanine is an Essential Amino Acid and precursor for the Amino Acid Tyrosine. Like Tyrosine, it is the precursor of Catecholamines which consist of Dopamine, Epinephrine (otherwise known as adrenalin) and Tyramine. It is metabolised primarily in the Liver. Normal metabolism of Phenylalanine requires Iron, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Copper and Vitamin C.
1 capsule daily. It is preferable to take Amino Acids with fruit juice or water, rather than milk.
An Amino Acid is best taken 1/2 hour before any meal or at bedtime.
L-PHENYLALANINE MUST NOT BE TAKEN BY PHENYLKETONURIA SUFFERERS (PKU).
L-Phenylalanine should not be used with MAO inhibitors (a type of anti-depressant medicine).
